by GT Staff | Chicago Cubs at Los Angeles Dodgers (-125, 8½u -120 LVH) (WGN/FSW, Cox Channels 16/50): No stars in Hollywood will shine as much as the Cubs, who have proven to be virtually unbeatable as of late, winning 10 of 11 after Thursday’s, 5-4 series opening win over Los Angeles. The offense has been scoring runs in bunches, something the Dodgers can only dream of. In June, LA has averaged a scant 2.5 runs per game and have really struggled to even average that.
LA has suffered because of this, going just 3-11 in its last 14 and falling to 16-14 at Chavez Ravine. The Dodgers were swept by Chicago a little more than a week ago in three stone-cold unders (3-1, 3-1, 2-1) at Wrigley Field. All of this statistical dominance combined with two teams streaking in opposite directions points toward backing the better baseball team, one that’s now 17-3 versus the weak NL West. And to get a little plus (+115) with the Cubbies and starter Sean Marshall against Hideki Kuroda and the Dodgers is worth it in this one which should also fall under the posted total of 8½ in that ballpark this evening. CUBS +115, UNDER 8½.
