2008 Euro Cup Saturday, 6-13-8

Jun 14, 2008 3:00 AM

by Kevin Stott | Spain (-1, +110 2u -130, LVH) vs. Sweden (9 a.m. PT, ESPN2/ESPN Deportes): Respect the way Spain played in its opening win against Russia but this Swedish team is no Russia. Sweden shut out defending Euro Cup champs Greece, 2-0 on Tuesday in Salzburg and are as competitive and as hungry as Spain. Fifa has Spain at No. 4 and Sweden at No. 23 in their latest rankings but the disparity between these two teams is not that great. Lets look at the underdog in this one and grab the full goal (+1) and hope for Sweden to score first in what should be a low-scoring affair. The under looked appetizing before some books moved their totals from 2 to 2 and before a rash of overs started happening in this tourney earlier in the week. Well pass on the total. SWEDEN +1, -130.

Russia (- +110, 2u -135) vs. Greece (11:45 a.m. PT, ESPN2/ESPN Deportes): Two teams in need of a win to have chance to advance beyond this Group Stage are Russia and Greece, losers to Spain (3-1) and Sweden (2-0), respectively in their openers. Although this is a toss-up, lean toward Russia, but would advise looking for them on the moneyline to avoid giving the half-goal in a game that could very well end 0-0, 1-1 or 2-2 in Salzburg.

With so much at stake here and neither offense showing any real signs of dominance in their openers, taking a shot at the UNDER 2 may be worth a look in a game where a goal by the opposition may well mean the end of any dreams of winning Euro 2008. RUSSIA, UNDER 2.
