Tigers -115 vs Dodgers (9½)
Talk about anemic, the LA Dodgers have scored one run or less 22 times in 67 games or roughly 1-in-3. Currently, LA has managed just one run in the last 27 innings, including back-to-back shutouts. The Dodgers are 6-8 in starts by Brad Penny, who hasn’t pitched on the road since a 5-3 loss at Milwaukee on May 13. Opponents are batting a robust .327 in Penny’s road starts.
The Tigers are showing signs of life during a miserable first-third of the season. Detroit is 6-2 on the current homestand, winning the last four including a 5-0 shutout of the Dodgers last night. Eddie Bonine makes his major league debut after compiling a 9-2 record at Triple-A Toledo. Bonine takes the rotation spot of Jeremy Bonderman, who is out for the season. Earlier call-up Armando Galarraga is 6-2 with a 3.31 ERA and has been Detroit’s best pitcher. We hope lightning strikes twice against a team of hitless wonders. TIGERS.
