Jun 24, 2008 7:03 PM

On the Cheap by H Scot Krause | Offering more summertime cool fun, the Tropicana Las Vegas has begun its newest pool party concept, "Mint Mondays," complete with food, fun and entertainment every Monday from noon to 11 p.m.

"We are referring to our pool party as ‘Mint Mondays’ to incorporate the cool, refreshing atmosphere that will be provided to our guests every Monday," says Tropicana Casino General Manager Penny Baratta. "We want them to relax and enjoy themselves, while visiting our tropical oasis."

Guests of "Mint Mondays" will be entertained throughout the afternoon and evening. There will be a DJ and band blasting tunes from noon until 7 p.m. The band takes the poolside stage from 7-8:30 p.m. The DJ wraps up the evening with more music hits.

During the pool party, guests can participate in volleyball, swimming, dancing, and gaming. Tropicana’s legendary swim-up blackjack tables, seating a total of 14 players, will be open for the duration of the party. A variety of food and drinks will be offered.

Three barbecue grills will be posted throughout the Trop pool deck serving menu items such as Jerk Chicken Breast, BBQ Brisket Sandwiches, Broiled Italian Sausage, Fish Tacos and Carne Asada. Two portable bars, in addition to the permanent Coconut Grove Bar and Swim-up Bar, will serve up the cocktails.

Mint-flavored beverages will be offered and include Wild Mint Juleps, Mojitos, Peachy Mint Coolers and more. The traditional tropical blended daiquiris and margaritas will also be available as both an alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage.

Private cabanas are available for rent both during the "Mint Mondays" parties and each day of the week. The cabanas include a personalized food and beverage server, chaise lounges, chairs, a table, and a complimentary fruit basket. For cabana reservations call 702-739-3595.

A similar version of the pool party can be experienced every Friday and Saturday throughout the summer. All pool parties at the Tropicana are free and open to the public. Persons 21 and older will be asked to show a photo ID and wear a wristband. For more information, call the Tropicana at 702-739-2222 or visit
