Dodgers -127 vs Giants (8½)
To think that Barry Zito and his megabucks contract is a home underdog to a part-time starter must be some kind of joke. But, it’s not. Zito has been torched most of the season, reflected in the Giants’ poor 4-13 record when the lefty pitches. Chan Ho Park is in his second go-around with the Dodgers and has been a nice surprise in his role as long reliever/spot starter.
The Dodgers are 2-1 in Park’s starts, including a 6-0 victory last week over the LA Angels and -124 favorite Joe Saunders. Another plus for the visitors is a current four-game win streak that included Friday night’s 10-7 victory in the series opener. The Dodgers also have Andruw Jones and Nomar Garciaparra back in the lineup after long stints on the DL. The Dodgers have scored 26 runs in their four wins, no thanks to Jones who went 0-for-5 in his return and his batting under .160. But, Nomar has two hits and we’ll ride the wave another day. DODGERS.
