Horse Racing Betting Tips by Richard Saber |

Yesterday’s results

At Hollywood, both of our pick four tickets went down – in our first pick four we ran second in race one, won race two but ran second in the next two races as our chronic case of "seconditis" continues. In the late pick four we had the winner in race five, ran second in race six, had the winner in race seven (all) and our single ran second in the last race. At Solano our play in race four won but was bet down to 6/5 so we had no play in race four; we were split in the Q but had the winner who paid $5.60. We hit the double from the fourth to the fifth but ended up losing two bucks as it only came back and paid $11. We lost our key play in race six as our horse ran fourth while having a ton of trouble. In the late pick three we hit the first two legs but lost the last race losing our $6 bet.

Hollywood Park

Race 1

As the fields get shorter with all the horses leaving town for Del Mar, it looks like trainer Jeff Mullins is sticking around to pick up the left over purses. In her he has No. 1 Proud Garrison fresh off the win first off the claim and now gets another confident boast in class. Mullins also has No. 3, Havens Lake, who has the speed but drops in class off a nice run for 32k. We will play the Q and bet the No. 1 who will be the best price of the two.

Key Play

$10 Q 1-3 for $10

$20 win on No. 1 for $20

Race 2

This is one bad field of 3yo $12,500 claimers, the most consistent looks to be No. 2 Dunlap who is put back to his original claimed price, Rosario stays aboard and we will play a double from race one. 2

Key Play

$4 double for $8

1st 1-3

2nd 2

Race 3

No. 5, Distinctive Afleet, comes back off a layoff for trainer Ellis who does well with layoff stock, he also exits a key race. No. 6, Elusive Chief, just did miss last time out and looks set for a big try today. No. 7, Quaker Run, hasn’t been seen since claimed last October at Oak Tree. He has been working very good and could spring a small surprise. 5-6-7

Key Play $5 exacta box 5-6-7 for $30

$2 tri box 5-6-7 for $12

Race 4

Fillies and Mares going 7 ½ furlongs for $12,500 and most of these belong up North. Trainer Jorge Periban has been hot lately and the one post was hot on Wednesday, so No. 1 Talking to Devon is a must use. No. 3, Teen Age Bride, gets her second start off the layoff and jockey Bejarano says he will take a shot with this lightly raced 5yo mare. No. 7, No Name Just Game, drops to her original claimed price by trainer Mullins and the longer distance can only help her cause. 1-3-7

Key Play

$2 double for $18

3rd 5-6-7

4th 1-3-7

Race 5

Mike Mitchell is almost 30% percent first off the claim and he has No. 1, Superfecta, in here testing the hard Hollywood grass for the first time, he also exits a key race, he is the one to beat in here and we will single in the late pick four. No. 1

Race 6

No. 4, Royal Seal, drops and gets Gomez for trainer Paddy Gallagher so look for a big time effort today. No. 1, El Supremo, is the speed on the rail, if he clears he will be hard to run down. No. 7, Probation Please, has been right there in his last two starts but can he win? We will use all three in the late pick four and make a win bet on Royal Seal (5/1 in the morning line).

Key Play

$20 win and place No. 4 for $40

Race 7

Trainer Jeff Mullins has two entered in this race, No. 1, Lighten Up Rule, and No. 3, Summertime, who arrives here from Churchill Downs where she had been routing with little success. This looks like a prep for her and away to make this race go. No. 5 Exquisite Beauty looks like the speed from her outside post with Gomez in the irons. 3-5

Race 8

We will go deep in here and hope for a price. Trainer Koriner has two entered in here, No. 1, Branquino, who is owned and trained by Koriner. He also send out No. 3, Star Cat Go, who has early speed and looks on the improve. No. 6 is a first time starter out of the Gutierrez barn and he has the bug boy Campos up for the ride. No. 7, Got A lot Going, ran good last time out at 5f and the extra ½ furlong today may do the trick. No. 9, Coastal Souvenir, is a first timer for trainer Mullins. No. 5, Sherry’s Ready, lost by a head to the No. 7 last time out as jockey Joy Scott is in search of her first win of the meet. 1-3-5-7-9
