by Kevin Stott | Freshly opened on June 26, the Wildfire Casino Boulder’s sports book is the perfect place for the sports bettor not wanting to fight the traffic or crowds that come with the mammoth properties on and around the Strip.

Located on the site of the old Magic Star Casino at 2000 S. Boulder Highway in Henderson, the recently renovated Wildfire Casino Boulder is one of several "neighborhood" locations owned by Wildfire Gaming, a division of Station Casinos. Wildfire Gaming also operates sports books in the Wildfire Rancho, Wildfire Casino & Lanes – formerly Renata’s Sunset Lanes – Barley’s, Gold Rush, Wild Wild West and Lake Mead Casino.

Although they were still working out a few trivial details in their sports book, like the lighting for the sports board and the sound system, the sports book at Wildfire Casino Boulder is a brand spanking new location that smartly spaced out their six new comfortable seats so that you’re not right on top of the person sitting next to you.

And slots players near the sports book area can easily watch one of the 10 crisp, flat-screen televisions while playing. In addition, the entire casino has plenty of TVs throughout to accommodate gamblers interested in watching a game or fight while they’re playing.

Selling itself as "Your Neighborhood UFC Headquarters" – a smart move in this day and age for those who can’t afford the cards on pay-per-view – Wildfire is planning on showing all UFC cards at its three locations.

As part of a grand opening celebration on July 5 at the Wildfire Casino Boulder and Wildfire Casino & Lanes (4451 E. Sunset Road, Suite #1, Henderson), UFC star Chuck "The Iceman" Liddell made appearances.

"We had around 200 people in here on Saturday," a ticket writer at the Wildfire Casino Boulder said of Liddell’s appearance. "And he (Liddell) stayed for about two hours or so. He was great."
