Horse Racing Betting Tips by Richard Saber |

Opening day at Del Mar

First post 2 pm

Race 1

There appears to be a solid single in the race so we will play the early pick three to start things off. In here, No. 2, Glimmering Pete, exits our horses to watch list and looks like the one to beat on the drop off the Doug O’Neill claim. No. 4, Win to Win, is stranger danger coming here from Emerald Downs via Turf Paradise for 40% trainer Mike Chambers and this guy likes this flat mile distance. No. 7, Plan for Fun, is a Jeff Mullins reclaim and Tyler Baze gets back on and rode him to a win the last time Mullins had this guy. 2-4-7

Race 2

No. 1, Earnednevergiven, won his only turf start and if Espinoza can keep him out of trouble from his rail post he could get there late. No. 5, Pocosin’s Game Boy, hasn’t been seen since last December at Santa Anita, this guy is fast and trainer O’Neill looks to have him ready to fire off the layoff and it’s a good sign that jockey Bejarano rides, if he can clear early he will be gone. 1-5

Race 3

In here we will single No. 6, Ima Offended, who has run second in her first two starts but today looks like the day as jockey Enriquez rides for owner Tommy Town Thoroughbreds, he is there first call rider and works there horses, this is go time. We will also make some Q’s keying on her with a few others. No. 6

Race 4

Red hot trainer Morey ships in No. 4, Ron Bob, who in the past has had trouble getting to the winners circle but has hit the board running on the grass at this distance seven out of nine times, he is a must use. No. 1, Lord in Command, is another who exits are HTW list, he won at first asking and was red tagged by trainer Wesley Ward who don’t claim many but when he does you have to sit up and take notice, he could be a nice price play. No. 9, Table Four Ten, ran lousy as the chalk last time out but now gets Bejarano in the irons so look for a much improved effort and this guy may like it down here by the sea. 1-4-9

Race 5

Two-year-old Cal bred maidens: this is when you need to be at the track and check out some of the early money it is usually live but since we are not there we will go deep in this race and use it as our first leg in a pick three since there is a horse in race seven that looks like something good to eat. In here we will use No. 1, Miguel’s Mascot, who should go better in start #2, No. 5, High Way Sixty Six, who will show more speed today, No. 9, Mendota Bay, who could pop at a price, No. 11, I Wanna Getaway, a first timer for Peter Miller and No. 12, Tactful, a first time starter for Carla Gaines who loves to win at Del Mar, we will also single this one. 1-5-9-11-12

Race 6

Part one of the split Oceanside and this is one tough nut to crack. No. 1, Indian Sun, gets the rail, and if jockey Migliore can stay and save ground with out getting stuck in the stretch he will be right there. No. 2, Moral Compass, arrives here from Belmont in top form and gets Gomez to ride. No. 3, Ez Dreamer, just lost a hearbreaker by a nostril. No. 4, Sky Cape, loves the grass and will be a pace factor from start to finish. No. 8, Coronel Moldes, is just off the plane from France and looks like a good one, he is a must use at 15/1. No. 9 Jungle Wave is another with speed and is also 15/1, we will have to use. No. 10, Kilderry, has two first and a second from three turf starts, he will be one to fear late. 1-2-3-4-8-9-10

Race 7

In here No. 12, Sherry’s High, is dropped by Mitchell and gets Rosario in the irons for super owner Bob Bone, this girl looks ready for a huge run. The main danger will come from No. 3 Perfect Cast who just lost by a nose in her last start. 3-12

In this the second half of the split Oceanside No. 1, Liberian Freighter, will get a great rail trip with his speed. No. 3, Dixie Chatter, tries the grass for the first time but has been facing the likes of Two Step Salsa. No. 5, Devils Afleet, has sprinters speed and will try and take them wire to wire. No. 9, Tangled Tango, has two wins and three thirds from five lifetime starts, he will attempt the grass for top trainer Julio Canani who don’t make many mistakes here at Del Mar, this guy is ultra live at 6-1.

Race 9

It is single time as we will single No. 3, Bigum, at first glance this 18 time loser looks like a toss but fifteen of those races where for a low profile barn, since he has entered the Canani barn all his races have been top notch, today looks like the day. No. 2, Officer M.D., exits the same race as Bigum and we will use him also. 2-3
