Yesterday’s results

At Del Mar we hit the early pick three and it paid $284.70 for one dollar. Our key play in race four ran fourth, our play in the fifth ran out, we ran first and second in leg one of our pick three in race six and one-two-three in race seven in leg two of our pick three; but we were caught at the wire in race eight and that cost us another good pick three as our seconds continue to pile up – hopefully things will balance even out. In race nine we had the winner but half of our key Q was scratched and that was good as our key horse ran fourth with just a horrible ride by Solis who does not seem like he wants to ride anymore. At Solano we blew our late pick three and it’s a good thing they are closing today.

1st post 2:00 PM

Race 1

There are several big drop downs in here that we will use in the early pick three, No. 2 Kiss My Crown drops like a hot potato but gets the bug boy Campos in the saddle. No. 5 Outlaw Jams drops from a 50k claimer to this 16k price all is not well but his trainer O’Neill is hot so we must use. No. 4 Romance Is Zenon moves up off a win for Mitchell and his barn is also firing on all cylinders. No. 3 Drewthegentleman drops to 16k after being red tagged for 25k by Mullins but Solis rides and I am steering clear of Alex, if he beats me he beats me. 2-4-5

Race 2

No. 3 Renegade Ruby will try and take them wire to wire for the connections of Mercedes Stable/ Julio Canani, when these two hook up they usually end up in the winners circle. No. 5 Model will attempt to run Ruby down in the lane. 3-5

Race 3

There are seven listed to run in here and I give them all a shot, we will make one pick with all and then we will use 3-6-7 in another.

Key Play

$1 pick three for $21

1st 2-4-5

2nd 3

3rd all

$1 pick three for $18

1st 2-4-5

2nd 3-5

3rd 3-6-7

Race 4

No. 6 Wild Fleece ran big in her first try routing on the grass and the winner of that race came back and won her next out. No. 7 Shes a Real Keeper routed good as a 2yo and should come back bigger and stronger as she make her 3yo debut and turf debut but her sire Unusual Heat is tops for grass breeding. No. 9 Warrens Highroller ran big on the grass in her last start and I love jockey Valdivia on the grass. 6-7-9

Key Play

$4 exacta box 6-7-9 for $24

$1 tri box 6-7-9 for $6

Race 5

No. 1 Lady Schnapps exits our HTW list and looks ready to graduate in her first start off the Hollendorfer claim we will single her in the late pick four. No. 1

Race 6

No. 2 Hunter Creek drops into an action spot for trainer Paasch. No. 3 Lardog also drops, gets R Baze for trainer Morey and when they hook up its like gold! No. 6 Benchmark Kid is another dropper trying to cash. No. 7 Mountain Route is the closer and gets one of the best closing jocks Rosario in the irons. We will use all four in the pick and make a bet on Lardog. 2-3-6-7

Key Play

$20 win and place 3 for $40

Race 7

If none of the also’s get in mainly No. 12 Famous Secret I will single No. 5 Unusual Jane in this race as she gets her second start off the layoff and should get enough pace to run at that she can nail them at the wire. NO. 5

Race 8

No. 2 Jack’s True Spirit looks very live at first asking for young Stute. No. 3 Vanaldi will improve first off the Monteleone claim with Espioza up. No. 8 Carmens Excess looks like a short price in here and we will make an alternate ticket with him as a single. No. 9 Holloman ran ok first off the layoff last time out and if he can improve he will be coming late. No. 11 looks to be a live first time starter for trainer Moger. 2-3-8-9-10-11

$1 pick four for $24

5th 1

6th 2-3-6-7

7th 5

8th 2-3-8-9-10-11

$1 pick three

6th 2-3-6-7

7th 2-3-4-5-6-8-(12 also eligible)

8th 8 for $24 or $28

Today is closing day at Solano, where they have just six races that I would bet; the first is a five horse field pass, the second is a six-horse field that if I had to make a play I would take a shot with No. 1 Jamaicanmelate, who is 6/1 in the morning line and is a perfect three for thee at this 5½ furlong distance. Race six is a maiden 2yo fillie race, race seven is a maiden 2yo fillie race, race eight is a maiden 2yo race and we finish up with a 10k claimer, a race I like with No. 3 Shadow Justice, but I would not take a short price on him – he is 2/1 in the morning line and I would not take anything less.

Saratoga opens on Wednesday and I have been in contact with several top handicappers who will be there for the meet and if they get some good ones to take a shot at we will pass them along on this site.
