DEL MAR

HOLY THUNDER: Hadnít seen the track since December 2006. He was listed at 20-1 on the morning line, but took some action and gave a huge effort in this 1 1/16 turf route. Thunder finished second against a very tough field, losing by less than a length.

QUICK COMMANDER: Sped to the early lead and set the pace. Got passed in the stretch, but was coming back on at the wire in what was a super try at better than 11-1. If able to clear in next start, look for her in the winnerís circle. $$$

GEM PROOF: Was coming off a layoff of over a year, but just stormed home in this flat mile turf race to win going away. He did get claimed out of this effort by Mike Mitchell. Look for this one to move on up and win. $$$

SAGA CELEBRE: Euro import making her first start in the U.S. for trainer Paddy Gallagher looked like something good in the making. She swung five wide down the lane and stormed home for an easy win. This girl can flat out run and a must follow on the move up in class.

CANDILEJAS: Looked great in this spot as she was exiting a big-time run, finishing second in her last start in a fast race. At the top of the stretch she looked like the winner, but did not follow through with her run. Wound up fifth, less than two lengths behind the winner. No mistakes for this girl next time out at Del Mar. Send it in. $$$

SKY VICTOR: First-time starter hesitated at the start and was off dead last. Was taken down on the inside and moved up along the rail. Came out at the top of the lane and put in a nice late run to pick up the show dough.

SUPERFECTA: This previous HTW was trying the turf for the first time off the claim, He got in tight early on the backstretch and stalked inside, but had to be steadied hard when in tight. Looked beaten, but got to the outside and gutted it out at the wire for a big-time win.

YOU IS WHAT YOU IS: Looked overanxious to run as he was just pulling jockey Garcia out of the saddle. Got into a very tight spot and had to check off heels. He took back along the rail, surged to the front and won for fun.
