At Del Mar we started off great with our key play $20 win a place on In the Forecast won wire-to-wire paying $8.60 to win and $3.40 for the place and we also hit a $10 Q which paid $6.20 for two dollars, after that it was down hill. We had the winner in race two but got beat at the wire in race three and in race four which cost us a nice Pick Four. We had the winner in race five which started another Pick Four but ran second in race six, we lost race seven and we saved money in race eight when the seven was a late scratch. The ten Threat in the last race looked like the winner in the stretch but got reeled in late and finished third. There will be a carryover Pick Six today of $115,402 and we will take our shot. At Santa Rosa it was a real quagmire. We started off with a little winner hitting a small Q in race three but we lost our double. In race five we had the winner but god split in the exact and our win a place bet was far far back and had to much ground to make up and finished fifth, we lost race six and that cost us the double. We were no where in race seven and race eight. Our single in race nine was another that was far far back for some reason, he came storming home but was to late and finished second, we were no where in the last race.
First Post 4:00 PM
No. 5, Lunch Time, exits our HTW list and really looks to have found a spot to break his maiden at this flat mile distance, albeit at a short price. We will single in the early Pick Four and make some tri’s with him in this race. We will use the 5 first and second with the No. 1 Warren’s Moonkross, No. 4 Here Comes Buster, No. 6 Gato Viejo and No. 8 Six Pack Man.
$1 tri 5 with 1-4-6-8 with 1-4-6-8 for $12
$1 tri 1-4-6-8 with 5 with 1-4-6-8 for $12
$6 Q 5 with 1-4-6-8 for $ 24
In here we have another who exits our HTW list, No. 4, Newport Topper, a recent Jeff Mullins claim, look for this 5yo mare to hold on today much better in her first start for Mullins. No. 1 Adarlyn Cat finished in front of Topper last time out and now gets the services of Rosario in her first start for trainer Victor Garcia who got his first win Thursday. No. 7 Carrie With a C is the stranger danger as she ships in from Pleasanton where off the Jerry Hollendorfer claim, she is a win machine with nine wins in 22 starts. 1-4-7
$4 exacta box 1-4-7 for $24
$20 win and place 4 for $40
40k statebred maidens, maybe another Topper can win if we get Newport Topper home in race two we have No. 6 Celestial Topper in here with Bejarano in the irons off some nice works. No. 2 Got A lot Going seems to be still trying to figure things out but will be making his run late. No. 5 Dashwood looks live at first asking for trainer Sise who has won two races at the meet. No. 8 Kitty Caliente may be the speed in here in start No. 2 as he goes from the inside to the outside, if he clears he may be gone. 2-5-6-8
We have another in here off our HTW list and that is No. 2 Solar Miss who gets stretched out on the turf after a real good maiden breaker going 6f on the Hollywood grass at 90 cents on the dollar. Her trainer Kathy Walsh clicks at 36% when stretching a horse out for the first time. Trainer Barry Abrams brings back No. 3 America’s Friend in just seven days and that has been a good move for him over the years, this girl just did miss by a nose here on July 18 going 5f on the Del Mar grass, she must be kicking down the barn. No. 9 Exquisite is the stranger danger as she gets her first start in the states for Paddy Gallagher, she had been doing all her running in New Zealand. No. 8 Miss Fremont will be coming late as will No. 7 Chosen Royalty whose one and only turf attempt was in the Provincial-GR3 back in '06 at Santa Anita when finishing a fast closing third behind the very tough Foxysox. 2-3-7-8-9
$1 tri 2 with 3-7-8-9 with 3-7-8-9 for $12
$1 tri 3-7-8-9 with 2 with 3-7-8-9 for $12
$4 Q 2 with 3-5-7-8-9 for $20
$1 Pick Four for $60
No. 2 Alex B.Good is a second time starter out of the Doug O’Neill barn who showed good speed in her first start and the jockey change to M Baze may get her home. No. 6 One Perfect Karat looks to be a live first time starter who attracts Solis. No. 7 Victory Dancer is another who exits our HTW list, she was a fast closing second in her first start and the extra half a furlong can only help. No. 9 Rusalka is on the improve and exits the same race as Alex B.Good. We will single Victory Dancer in the Pick Six and use all four in the late Pick Four. 2-6-7-9 (7*)
No. 1 Unusually Hot broke her maiden back in April despite trouble and now is back in what looks to be a race she is overmatched but that 36% win stat off the layoff for trainer Walsh stands out and she make few mistakes when placing a horse. No. 2 Morning Frost did not run a bad race last year with one win two second and a third from four outings and her works are sizzling. The 5yo No. 8 Little Boss Chick ran huge in her first start off the layoff, she gets a great post and if she don’t bounce off the effort she will win, we will single in the pick six and use the other in the Pick Four. 1-2-(8)*
The Wickerr Handicap
Trainer Julio Canani looks determined to win this race as he has three entered and they are not an entry. No. 1 Portor Santo hasn’t been seen since last year at Del Mar but did just miss in this race last year and now gets the services of Gomez and a great post. These connections of trainer Julio Canani and Lanni are gold, the one to beat. No. 6 Lang Field also ran in this race last year and almost took them wire to wire, if left along today he could be gone off some sizzling works. No. 8 Becrux won this race last year by a neck, he never ran a step in his come back race the GR2 American and his works don’t entice and he may be overbet. No. 10 Awesome Gem has class but has never won on the grass and is a very deep closer, if betting exotics he is a must use but we will pass on the front end.
No. 2 Rockin Hoss is yet another who exits our HTW list, he will be on or near the lead and bug boy M Martinez, who is riding much better of late will try and keep him together down the lane. No. 6 Smudgeledo gets his second start off the layoff for trainer Koriner, he prepped in a quarter horse race July 6 at Pleasanton, he will be out winging and maybe overlooked in the betting. If a speed duel should take place old pro No. 10 Lord Albion will be the one coming from far back, he won his two races here last year and this 10yo war horse has won 16 for 41 races, he knows where the finish line is. 2-6-10
$2 Pick Six for $96
$1 Pick Four for $72
No. 3 Coleryan will be odds on in here and we cant bet on him or against, pass.
No. 3 Port of Entry gets Baze on for trainer Mason on the stretchout and that means go.
$20 win and place 3 for $40
No. 6 Mel Maani will be short in here but looks like she can be beat by either No. 1 Kiss Kiss Kiss or No. 3 Ginny Winner or No. 4 Happy Celyna, we will use all foru in doubles.
Race 5: 1-3
$2 double for $16
The 11yo No. 4 Motel Staff has won two of three on this Santa Rosa turf course and will say come and get me. No. 5 Like Running Water has won three of five at this distance and the drop could get him home. No. 7 Candi’s Toast has some long shot potential. No. 8 Shadow Raider just did miss to Motel Staff one back and is listed at 15-1 in the morning line. No. 10 Mr Eddie Boy takes a big drop in class, if still in one piece he will be there in this very tough race. 4-5-7-8-10
$2 key Q 4 with 5-7-9-10 for $8
10 cent super box 4-5-7-9-10 for $12
This looks like a two horse race between No. 4 Scotts Poppy and No. 6 Lucky Thirteen, we will key both in the late pick three. 4-6
Race 8: 4-7-8-9-10
Race 9: 2-8-10
$1 Pick Three for $30
