D’backs -142 vs Giants (8)
Why not drink from the well if the water tastes good? Arizona continued its feast on NL West teams with a second win in the series over San Francisco and a 24-12 overall record this year against this division. The Diamondbacks get out the brooms today with the ageless lefty Randy Johnson, who has been on the upswing in recent outings. Arizona is just 8-9 in Johnson’s starts, but has won three of his last four. Johnson’s last start may have been his best all year – a 2-0 shutout of the Cubs and their new acquisition Rich Harden.
The Giants send their big money catastrophe Barry Zito to the hill. When Zito starts, the Giants are 6-14. The Giants have been outscored 15-5 in the series and have dropped four of five meetings to Arizona at AT&T Park. Zito and Johnson hooked up back on May 29 in Phoenix with the Giants prevailing 4-3. Asking Zito to do it again may be a bit much. Like yesterday, we’re siding with the dominant team. D’BACKS.
