The Las Vegas Hilton just released odds to win the ACC, SEC and Big 12 Conference titles. Clemson is the 2-1 favorite in the ACC, with Virginia Tech at 3-1 and Florida State 7-2. North Carolina is a sleeper choice at 8-1, while Duke is 1000-1. The SEC is a typical dogfight with Florida favored at 7-4, followed closely by Georgia at 5-2. LSU and Auburn are each 4-1. Mississippi State is the longshot at 100-1. Oklahoma is the Big 12 favorite at 5-4, followed by Texas at 11-4 and Missouri at 3-1. Iowa State and Baylor are 1000-1.

SORRY BYU: A 15-yard personal foul penalty for using the wrong info on BYU and several other Mountain West teams in last week’s capsule. The blame, along with us, goes to a website we won’t disclose that needs to bone up fast on stats.

The English came by the thousands when Ricky Hatton fought and lost to Floyd Mayweather last year. Now Hatton’s back to face "The Magic Man" from Brooklyn in Paulie Malignaggi to unify the 140-pound junior welterweight title. No odds are available yet for the Nov. 22 bout, but tickets go on sale Friday at prices from $150 to $1,000. Hatton, from Manchester, is 44-1 with 31 KOs. Malignaggi, who lost a tough 12-round decision to Miguel Cotto, is 25-1. HBO will televise the fight live at 6 p.m. PT.

BROWN COMES UP BIG: It took a late charge, but Big Brown pulled off a dramatic victory in the Haskell last Sunday to vault back into the picture for both Horse of the Year honors and a possible Oct. 25 matchup at Santa Anita in the Breeders Cup Classic against Curlin. The latest Cup odds at Wynn had Big Brown at 5-1 with Curlin the 3-1 favorite.
