White Sox -120 vs Athletics (8)

The teams have split the first two games, but Oakland has still lost 15 of its last 18. During that 18-game span the As have scored two runs or less 13 times, including last nights 2-1 loss. The White Sox go with Javier Vazquez, whose 9-10 record shows the up and down season he has had. Vazquez was great in his last start, a five-hit, 10-strikeout shutout of Kansas City over eight innings.

Oakland goes with rookie Gio Gonzalez, who is 1-1 in his short major league career and basically a five or six inning pitcher thus far. The As beat Vazquez 3-2 on July 3, but back then Oakland was a competitive team in the AL West. Now Rich Harden is gone, Eric Chavez is disabled for the season and the offense is in Alcatraz. Meanwhile the White Sox locked with Minnesota for the AL Central lead and have far more to lose in this encounter. Lets put it on the board, yes. WHITE SOX.
