Browns +2½ at Lions (41)
We’re switching from baseball to satisfy the enormous demand for NFL wagering. If you scanned today’s GT Top Story, you’re aware that underdogs have covered nearly 70 percent during preseason. That’s certainly significant, but not absolute. Here is a case where the favorite looks to be the right side.
Detroit is 2-0 in preseason, beating the Giants at home by 3 and the Bengals in Cincinnati by 17. QB Jon Kitna has been sharp, as has wideout Calvin Johnson and rookie RB Kevin Smith. Plus, Detroit seems to be putting a greater emphasis on winning. The Browns looked like a Pop Warner team early in the first half against the Giants, falling behind 30-3. Brady Quinn came on at QB and looked good, but the 61 points Cleveland has given up in two losses can’t be ignored. LIONS.
