BASEBALL, 4:05 p.m. PT

PNC Park, Pittsburgh

Brewers -120 at Pirates (8½)

Milwaukee won its seventh straight game over Pittsburgh and holds a whopping 9-1 edge in the season series. The fact the price is so short is a show of respect for Pirates’ lefty Paul Maholm, who has been Pittsburgh’s most consistent pitcher. Maholm is 8-7 overall with a fine 3.62 ERA and is 18-10 lifetime at PNC Park.

However, Maholm should meet his match in Jeff Suppan. The veteran righty is 11-3 lifetime against the Pirates and is 2-0 in his last three starts. Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun, last year’s NL Rookie of the Year, belted in his 34th homer to key a 3-1 win last night. Milwaukee is on a roll trying to secure a Wild Card berth at least. BREWERS.
