Cardinals -115 at Astros (9)

The Astros are a hot team and an underdog. That’s a juicy combination. Houston is riding a four-game winning streak and owns a 20-9 record in August, second only to the Cubs for the best NL mark. Meanwhile, St. Louis is just 4-6 in its last 10 games and has dropped the first two in this series.

Todd Wellemeyer has pitched well (11-5, 3.87 ERA) for the Cardinals, though off a loss to Ben Sheets and Milwaukee in his last outing. Houston lefty Wandy Rodriguez (7-6, 3.94 ERA) is hit or miss. Even though the stats favor Wellemeyer, the Astros are playing better ball. St. Louis had won each of the three previous series against Houston. Now the Cards are in danger of being swept and falling 7½ behind Milwaukee in the Wild Card chase. Houston pulls within three of St. Louis with a win. ASTROS.
