By David Stratton | Just in time for the start of a frenzied football season, Sunset Station has completed renovations of its sprawling race and sports book.

"Players will find our book more comfortable and an enjoyable place to experience the action," said Micah Roberts, race and sports book director. "We’ve also added a few promotions to pique their interest along the way."

In the sports book, about 60 new comfy club chairs have been added, along with 14 digital sports boards that display all the odds and point-spreads.

On the race side, players will find new race tables with TV monitors at every seat, 10 new digital race boards plus 10 new 60-inch monitors behind the counter for easy viewing.

The VIP section of the race and sports book features executive seating, 16 individual betting terminals (IPTs) and a personalized ticket writer. To use the exclusive area, players need deposit only $300.

Among the promotions is a Breeders Cup giveaway, in which six lucky patrons will be awarded a trip to the Breeders Cup this fall at Santa Anita in Southern California.

"It’s a unique opportunity to send our guests a short distance for a once in a lifetime trip," Roberts said. "The accommodations are going to be impressive, which includes VIP treatment for both days of the Breeders Cup."

Race bettors can qualify for drawing tickets this week, with a drawing scheduled for Friday, September 5. In addition to the grand prize, cash awards ranging from $1000 to $100 will be given away.

Roberts added that sports book customers are invited to step up to the counter and request a free Sunset Station T-shirt.

"The goal is to outfit all of our customers with a free T-shirt, so if a bettor hasn’t yet received one, just come by and pick one up," Roberts said.
