Safeco Field, Seattle

Yankees -180 at Mariners (9)

Well, at least we led into the seventh inning yesterday. Same two teams, different pick and hopefully a much better result. The Yanks gained a game on Tampa Bay and today start their most reliable pitcher Mike Mussina, who is going for this 18th victory. Mussina is a stellar 19-5 lifetime against the Mariners and has pitched his best ball when it mattered most, like today.

The Mariners counter with season-long nightmare Carlos Silva, who is 4-14 and carries a whopping 12.21 ERA over his last three starts. Also, Silva is 1-4 lifetime against the Yankees. This would seem a perfect chance for Alex Rodriguez to club another homer and add to his regular season success compared to his postseason failures. The Yanks have toyed with Seattle all year and, on paper, this looks easy. YANKS -1½.
