Voter files protest against Ohio casino issue

By Kevin Stott | Ohio.com reported this week that a voter from the state of Ohio has issued a formal protest that a constitutional amendment for a casino in southwest Ohio should be kept off the ballot in November.

Andrew Bowers filed the protest on Monday with Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner arguing that MyOhioNow.com and the organizations it paid to gather signatures failed to properly file the necessary forms.

MyOhioNow.com wants to build a casino outside of Wilmington and says its revenue would be shared with all 88 counties in the Buckeye State. Supporters turned in over 760,000 signatures last month and are still waiting to be certified for the Nov. 4 ballot.

An official with MyOhioNow did not immediately return a message on Tuesday seeking a comment on Bowers claim.

Brunner’s office is working to schedule a hearing on the matter.
