In Maine, where the companys Hollywood Casino has been operating as a monopoly at its Bangor Racetrack facility, Olympia Gaming, headed by longtime Las Vegas casino executive Dean Harrold, is seeking approval for a casino in the western part of the state.
Although a final site for the proposed casino hasnt yet been announced, it is expected to be in either Rumford or Oxford.
On a second front, Penn National Gaming is attempting to defeat the efforts of Lakes Entertainment Inc. (LACO) to locate Ohios only casino in the southwestern part of the state.
