Clemson Tigers at Wake Forest Demon Deacons -2
In a key ACC (Atlantic Coast Conference) match-up, Clemson travels north to Winston-Salem to battle Wake Forest in a contest that could decide the winner of the ACC’s Atlantic Division. The Tigers handled the Deacons last year, 44-10, but that was on their home turf. In the last six contests, the home team has won five of them. This season, each squad has flashed signs of inconsistency: Clemson was blown out in its opener by Alabama, then two weeks ago lost at home to Maryland. Wake looked solid in huge wins over Mississippi and Florida State, then inexplicably lost to Navy. Wake Forest coach Jim Grobe has done wonders with the team, which was a perennial doormat in the conference. Two years ago they won the ACC title and he has them on track again this season. His counterpart at Clemson, Tommy Bowden, seems to have underachieved with teams that should have more talent than the rest of the ACC schools. Because of the coaching difference, Wake Forest gets the nod in this spot. Wake Forest -2.
