by Kevin Stott | Now that they’ve won their first-ever playoff series in their first-ever playoff appearance, the Tampa Rays best forget all that and focus on the new problem at hand – the playoff-savvy Boston Red Sox.

The home team dominated the regular-season matchups in this series with TB going 8-1 at Tropicana Field against the Red Sox and Boston going 7-2 at Fenway Park versus the Rays. Worth noting is that fact that the Rays are 24-3 at home when the attendance is more than 25,000.

The Las Vegas Hilton’s SuperBook has made the Red Sox -125 series favorites over the Rays with the buyback at +105. In tonight’s Game 1 (WTBS, 8ET/5PT), TB sends James Shields to the mound against Boston’s Daisuke Matsuzaka. The LVH has made the Rays a -110 favorite with the total at 8o -115 but the public has bet the Red Sox into a -109 favorite at this writing at the casino.

The pitching matchups for the remainder of the series are as follows: Game 2 (Beckett-Kazmir); Game 3 (Lester-Garza); Game 4 (Wakefield-Sonnanstine); and Games 5-7 (If necessary, TBA).
