While the Keebler Elves were baking cookies in their hollow tree, I was looking at the Don Best NHL rotation for the week and just trying hard not to drool on the picture of the girl on page 6.

For you hockey freaks in Sin City, check out the free preview of NHL Center Ice which is scheduled to air until Wednesday on Cox cable channels 671-684. It’s a great way to watch teams and learn a little about their new chemistry for the 2008-09 season.

On to Week 2.

Tuesday, Oct. 14

Jackets at Sharks: SJ perfect 3-0 vs Columbus LY. Cue the "Jaws" theme music… SHARKS.

Wednesday, Oct. 15

Sabres at Rangers: Empire State skate great for Blueshirts in MSG. Jagr-meister for everyone! RANGERS.

Bruins at Canadiens: All Les Habs LY in regular season (8-0, 39-16 goals) so why buck the trend in Montreal? B’s should be better. CANADIENS.

Coyotes at Blackhawks: Chicago is 3-1 vs. Gretzky’s mob last year and 2-0 in the United Center. BLACKHAWKS.

Friday, Oct. 17

Coyotes at Senators: Flights from LA (Anaheim) to Phoenix to Chicago to Ottawa in the last week has to wear on the ‘Yotes. Ottawa won only meeting LY. SENATORS.

Saturday, Oct. 18

Bruins at Senators: Gerber and Ottawa 4-2 vs. B’s LY and teams north of the border hate losing to US squads. SENATORS.

Devils at Capitals: Ovechkin & Co. went 2-1 vs NJ in 2007, 1-0 at Verizon Stadium. CAPITALS.

Rangers at Wings: Great game! Detroit is dominant at home so let’s side with those Winged Wheels. RED WINGS.

Jackets at Predators: Nashville 7-1 vs. Jax LY including 4-0 at home with two straight shutouts. Go to the light. PREDATORS (BEST BET).

Sunday, Oct. 19

Hurricanes at Ducks: Although they didn’t play LY, Anaheim is a long way from Raleigh and the Ducks are simply better. DUCKS.
