Cowboys -7 at Rams (43½)
And you thought our best bet would be Game 7 of the American League Championship Series? Fooled you. We’ll sit that one out along with Tony Romo, whose broken pinkie was the subject of much speculation among Vegas books on the final line. Dallas opened as an 11-point favorite, but when Pinkygate broke loose in between Pacman’s suspension and the Roy Williams acquisition, the game was temporarily taken off the board. Now with Romo backing up starter Brad Johnson, the line is back at 7.
Actually this works better if you like the Cowboys. The Boys have been less than scintillating in their last few games and perhaps the insertion of the wily vet Johnson will calm things down and make for a more efficient performance. St. Louis pulled the unexpected last week with a stunning upset win at Washington, but one week won’t erase this troubled ship. Dallas has the decided edge in talent and, with Johnson calling signals, look for more carries for RB Marion Barber. We don’t think the Rams will match last week’s effort so consider the pinkie a four-point teaser in our favor. COWBOYS.
