Last week’s extra "Big Dog" trends went 3-1 with three nice, plus winners (Devils, Coyotes and Canadiens). One for this week: The Blackhawks (Saturday) vs. the Wings. Also, the road teams are all worth a shot on Monday, a day where MNF overs were 7-0 heading into last night. Hey, this is a hockey column buddy.

Until next week, may the number of "$5 Footlong" (Subway) commercial you hear be minimal and always ask yourself, "WWOD?" (What Would Oprah Do?) I have it tattooed on my rump. Hasta.

Tuesday, Oct. 21

Canucks at Jackets: Coming off a stellar preseason, Vancouver and goalie Luongo look impressive. Canucks 2-0 vs. Jax LY, outscoring them 6-1. CANUCKS.

Thrashers at Lightning: What’s a Thrasher? Eight skates last year averaged 6.25 GPG. OVER.

Wednesday, Oct. 22

Panthers at Senators: When the big black cats and crooked politicians met LY, 7.75 GPG were scored (5,9,8,9). Smells like puck. OVER.

Stars at Devils: WikiAnswers says it’s 1,262 miles from Dallas to Newark and travel is brutal in all sports. NJ won 4-2 LY at home. DEVILS.

Red Wings at Blues: Three skates in the Gateway City averaged 5 GPG, and an Osgood-Legace duel screams… UNDER.

Thursday, Oct. 23

Hurricanes at Penguins: The March of the Crosbys will continue in ’08. Teams split (2-2) LY, with home-ice a perfect 4-0. Grab some green in The Igloo you penguin lover. PENGUINS.

Friday, Oct.24

Thrashers at Red Wings: No, really, what’s a Thrasher? Atlanta won only meeting LY (5-1) but this is Hockeytown homeskillet and the boys – with newbie Hossa – are back in town. RED WINGS.

Saturday, Oct. 25

Thrashers at Bruins: Still no answer eh? BTB nights away from home will wear on Atlanta and B’s were 3-1 LY vs. Thrashers including 2-0 mark in Beantown (8-4 goals). BRUINS.

Blue Jackets at Wild: The Wild were 3-1 vs. the Turquoise Bees LY and protect their home rink, especially against bottom-feeders. WILD.

Oilers at Canucks: Fifteen games on the NHL schedule tonight? Mamma Mia! And no pucks left for Sunday. Talk about hockey OD! Four meetings between these two in Vancouver averaged 3.75 goals. UNDER.

Monday, Oct. 27

Red Wings at Kings: Bring out your dead. Winged Wheels 2-0 vs. crowned ones LY, outscoring them 7-1, and have dominated them for the last decade. RED WINGS.
