On Tuesday, The Plain Dealer, an influential newspaper in Ohio , urged readers to vote “no” on a ballot measure that would approve a $600 million casino resort in southwest Ohio .

A “yes” vote for Issue 6 would amend the Ohio constitution to allow a developer to build the casino in Clinton County between Cincinnati and Columbus .

With the headline, “Casino issue is for suckers,” the editorial said that the issue's 30 percent tax on gross casino receipts could one day be voided.

The paper cited a state analysis that if another casino opens in Ohio , the tax rate would be lowered to the newer casino's rate.

If an Indian casino -- which isn't taxed -- opens, the taxes on the Clinton County casino could be lost, according to the paper.
