WORLD SERIES (Game 3)

At Philadelphia, 5:30 p.m. PT (FOX)

Rays -115 at Phillies (9)

After the 30-minute Obama infomercial comes today’s key matchup that will either give Tampa Bay or Philadelphia a 2-1 edge in the best 4 of 7 format. ALCS most valuable player Matt Garza takes the mound as a slight road favorite and deservedly so. Garza was 2-0 against the Boston Red Sox, while his opponent Jamie Moyer is 0-2 in the playoffs.

So far the Series has been low-scoring with Philly winning 3-1 in Game 1 and Tampa coming back for a 4-2 victory last Thursday. The key to the Series is Philly’s ability to get the ball in the hands of Brad Lidge to close the ninth inning. That may not be so easy with Cole Hamels being the only affective starting pitcher. On the other hand Garza and Game 4 starter Andy Sonnanstine have given the Rays a real boost in starting depth. The cooler weather could be a factor, but we’re counting on Moyer being off again. RAYS.
