Maple Leafs -125 vs Lightning (5½)
Toronto comes in off an upset victory over Ottawa and with a surprising 3-2-3 mark to start the season. Nik Antropov leads the Leafs in scoring with seven points and in goals with four. Goalie Vesa Toskala has a 3-1 record with a 2.61 goals against average. The Leafs opened the season with a stunning win over the defending Stanley Cup champ Detroit Red Wings and have overachieved through eight games.
The same can’t be said for Tampa Bay, which has struggled to a 1-3-3 record under new coach Barry Melrose. Lack of offense has been the problem thus far for the Lightning, which have averaged a NHL-low 1.6 goals per game. Vincent Lecavalier and Martin St. Louis, the top Lightning players, have combined for just four goals. Goalie Mike Smith has been the shining light with a stingy 2.13 GAA. However, Smith is 1-2 in the nets and will be up against it on the road. TORONTO.
