Hey, we love Euro horses and Oklahoma State

Getting Rich with Saber by Richard Saber |

last week

There was a riff from my article last week especially from a local Irish horseplayer whose name I will not mention except to say he lives and breathes horseracing.

He was very taken aback from what Vic Vivio said about the Euros crossing the pond and crushing our contingent of so-called champions. I asked Vic about what he thought he said about Euros being great or just maybe having better drugs. When making this statement Vic was praising the Euros horses.

He just used this statement in a facetious manner and no way did he ever want to downgrade the great performances of the winning invaders. Just one note, the interested Irish lad also made a very keen statement. He observed that none of our steed crossover to run in any of the big Euro races.

It’s a point taken and we are sorry if anyone was offended.

Just one more note about the playoff debacle last week in baseball, my dear departed dad "Broadway Bennie Saber" always told me "never make a bet unless you know the rules."

It was just another crazy week in football but you won’t see a more exciting game than last week’s Texas-Texas Tech game. Let’s see if we can get back on track and produce some winners this week.

I do know there will be one winner and I went out very early last Monday morning, 9:30 a.m. to be exact as that is when the bank opens. I will be getting out some of my hard earned cash that’s been saved for a situation like this one.

Thursday, Nov. 6

TCU -2 at Utah: Horned Frogs have a super defense and they can also score. If you watched the second half of the Oklahoma game, TCU played great on defense. The Frogs have held six opponents to just 7 points. TCU.

Friday, Nov. 7

Nevada +2 at Fresno St: Wolf Pack got a week off after vacationing on the Island. They find a good spot to get revenge off last year’s loss to Fresno. The host Bulldogs only have one cover so far this year. NEVADA.

Saturday, Nov. 8

Oklahoma St +3½ at Texas Tech: In a few hours I will be flush with some cash and out taking the points with the Cowboys in this game. I will save some and bet the money line also.

The Cowboys catch the Red Raiders in a great spot as they are coming off super high-octane game with Texas, one they pulled out in the last seconds. Oklahoma State is 8-1 SU and 8-0 ATS this season, I will be all in and listening to this game at McCarron International with a nice refundable ticket to Pittsburgh in my pocket, OK ST.

Wyoming +25½ at Tennessee: If you watched the Volunteers play last week they looked like they have given up the season. They were just standing around on the sidelines in tiny groups. No wonder Phil Fulmer decided not to come back next year. I don’t even think Tennessee can score four TD’s let alone cover this spread. WYOMING.

Alabama -3 at LSU: The Tide is just the better team defensively and will shut down the Tigers offense. ALABAMA.

Sunday, Nov. 9

FLASH: Steubenville Big Red won their first Ohio high school playoff game with a resounding 61-29 victory.

This week the unbeaten Big Red will travel to legendary Fawcett Stadium in Canton to play powerful Youngstown Cardinal Mooney.
