It’s hard to keep secret a $662 million project, but anything is possible.

"I would consider this the biggest secret in all of Las Vegas," said Bert Cirincione, the first race and sports director at Aliante Casino and Hotel, which officially opens at 11:11 p.m. on 11/11. "Over the next 10 years we will be growing into a major city comparable to Henderson and North Las Vegas."

Expectations are indeed high at the most northern of casino sites in the Las Vegas area.

"Aliante is a master planned community," said Cirincione, who has been in the gaming business since 1996 after getting his thoroughbred feet wet at Santa Anita, Hollywood Park and Los Alamitos. "We are the only game in town out here. Del Webb and Sun City are our neighbors and that’s the way they will be treated."

The newest of the Station Casino properties is similar in style to the hub at Red Rock with one big exception – a plush 120-seat lounge facing the sports book which creates a movie theater atmosphere and comfort to watching games.

"This is the latest and greatest in technology," Cirincione said. "We have three huge video screens going all the way across the wall measuring 96 feet long and 18 feet high. Nothing like this has been seen in this area and I’m so proud to be a part of it."

Here are some of the other Aliante perks:

• 2,500 slot/video poker machines, including 1,500 penny-based games.

• 40 table games including blackjack, roulette, craps, Pai Gow poker, baccarat, Ultimate Texas Hold’em and Three Card Poker.

• 170-seat Race and Sports Book featuring the three large screens along with dozens of plasma TV’s featured throughout the book.

• 12-table smoke-free poker room (set adjacent to the sports book).

• Portable terminals where you can bet games right from your seat.

• 202 hotel rooms, including nine suites.

• A food court along with TGI Friday’s.

• The Access Showroom, which spans 13,500 square feet.

"The Showroom is where we will be having our Super Bowl festivities," Cirincione said. "We think the opportunity exists to draw a wide variety of guests. Anyone from age 21 to 81 has no reason to go anywhere else. but here at Aliante."

Aliante is the closest casino to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway and its nearest competition is the Cannery some seven to eight miles away. Interstate 215 leads directly to Aliante Parkway and into the site.

"I think people living or close by Aliante will find this a wonderful place to come," said Jason McCormick, the race and sports director at Red Rock. "You can pick this place up, put in center Strip and nobody would have a clue. It so much has the feel of a Las Vegas Strip property."

The Station’s family also includes Red Rock, Boulder, Palace, Texas, Santa Fe, Green Valley Ranch, Sunset, Fiesta Rancho, Fiesta Henderson, four Wildfire properties, Barleys and Wild Wild West.

So what comes next?

"We have plenty of land sites for expansion," said Art Manteris, vice president of race and sports operations for Station Casinos. "We have a site at Durango and the 215 that we’re interested in building sometime in the future. We would like to expand to Reno. I’m just happy to be here for the beginning of Aliante."
