Thursday Night NFL Football
New York Jets at New England Patriots -3
The Jets appear to be the "now" team with three consecutive wins under their belt, including a road upset of division rival Buffalo Bills. But their wins have come at the expense of St. Louis, Kansas City and Cincinnati – all ranked near the bottom in virtually every defensive category – since the bye week, and the were actually throttled by the Raiders in Oakland. Moreover, the Patriots handled the Jets 19-10 in the second week of the season, when they were just getting used to the idea of life without Tom Brady. For its part, New England has improved as the season has progressed, and Matt Cassell has begun to look comfortable in Brady’s sizable shoes. Last week, the Pats completely shut down Buffalo in a game the Bills needed desperately. When the Jets upset the Bills, they needed key turnovers and mistakes to "steal" the victory. The Patriots won’t be so generous tonight. And, while the game won’t be a blowout, look for New England to win comfortably and vault itself into undisputed first place in the division. New England -3.
