Notre Dame at Loyola Marymount
Gersten Pavilion, Los Angeles, California
Notre Dame (-21) at Loyola Marymount: The No. 8-ranked Fighting Irish (25-8) have high expectations for this season with Big East Player of the Year Luke Harangody (20.4 PPG, 10.6 RPG) and Kyle McAlarney (15.1 PPG), possess one of the most dynamic scoring duos in the nation.
Loyola Marymount (5-26) hired Bill Bayno as its new coach and is trying to get the program on the upswing but lost its two top scores from last year – Orlando Johnson and Sean Deadwiler – who decided to transfer. The top three players on Loyola Marymount are LaRon Armsetad (6-8, Freshman), McDonald’s All-America nominee and community college transfer Vernon Teel and freshman Ashley Hamilton, a 6-7 freshman wing who was a member of Great Britain’s Under-20 team.
Playing in the Big East, the most rugged conference of all right now, ND can ill afford non-conference slip-ups, so expect a top-notch effort tonight in Los Angeles and a big blowout for the Irish against the Lions in Lipstick City. NOTRE DAME –21.
