Suns -10 at Thunder (200)
Normally siding with a team that is 1-13 is a bit crazy, but these aren’t normal conditions. Yes, Oklahoma City is still 1-13, but there’s a new coach in town promising changes. Scott Brooks replaces PJ Carlesimo and has switched Kevin Durant and Jeff Green to small forward and power forward respectively. Those are the positions Durant (Texas) and Green (Georgetown) played as collegians. Strangely, under Carlesimo, Durant at 6-11 was the shooting guard and the muscular Green started at small forward.
The players are happy with the change and the Oklahoma City crowd, always raucous, should be fired up to help Brooks attempt to turn this team around. The Suns may be a good candidate for a least a cover. Phoenix has a respectable 9-5 record, but was picked apart last week by the Lakers and is only 2-5 against the spread in its last seven outings. Usually a coaching change is worth backing in the early going so we’ll take the points and hope Brooks can produce some early thunder. OKLA CITY.
