LUST HEAT: First-time starter was 12-1 on the morning line, but took plenty of action. He got bumped between horses at the start and squeezed to be far back. He made a five-wide move into the stretch, but the early going took its toll and had no run down the lane. There is more to this guy than meets the eye. He was claimed for 40K, by a very sharp barn so beware in next start.

HAKA: As most horse players know we all have certain jocks that we never seem to get a good ride out of. Garrett Gomez has been a thorn in my pocket for a long time. In this race he had Haka so far back it looked like he did not want to win today. He did make a big late run, but was way late. Next time, but I hope Gomez is out of town for another ride. $$$

SCHAGHTICOKE HILL: Took a long time to break her maiden, but when the light goes on these types come back and run several more big races in a row. That’s what this girl did in this race at 13-1. Look for her to put in another big effort.

SHE FLOATS: Trainer Mike Mitchell brought this girl in from Ireland and ran her in a 25K maiden claimer on July 27, a day that had a big Pick Six carryover. His new owner had her singled in the Pick Six and hit it for a bundle plus got the purse and another 25K for being claimed. After four races with her new connections, one win and a second she got reclaimed for 40K by Mr. Mike Mitchell again. We will be all over this girl in her next start. $$$$$

SPEEDSKI: First-time starter was extra live in this race, but just could not run down the filly Blame the Wine, who just won off our HTW list, Speedski finished a bang up second almost five lengths clear of the third place finisher. $$$$$

SCOREWITHCATER: Looks to be a good claim for 40K by Doug O’Neill, who also keeps a piece of the ownership. Look for this guy to be spotted for action in first start for Mr. Doug.

WILD YANKEE: Just exploded down the lane in this 11/16 turf route and has the looks of a horse that will move back up the ladder.

BRIAN’S MARK: Was squeezed off between horses and steadied hard at the start. He trailed to the turn, then was taken out for room. Came on with a nice late run and was one of three on the wire. This girl is sitting on a huge effort. $$$

MAJALY: Was far back and in another galaxy in this 20K maiden turf claimer, but once she got going made a five-wide move on the second turn. Came storming home, but was just a tad late. Settled for the place money, losing by less than a length and some four ahead of the rest.

SCALDING PASSION: Wanted to run, but jock took hold and he became very rank. He let him go when it was too late, but made a strong run and just did miss the place in what was a lousy ride.
