Shoot me, but I take Vegas for Thanksgiving

Getting Rich with Saber by Richard Saber |

last week

This past Thanksgiving I was happy to be in Las Vegas despite the rain. This is a great place to be especially if you are a sports bettor and horseplayer.

With all the madness going on all over the world, we all sure need some diversion from reality. Even in sports we have world-class football players shooting themselves and those overpaid NBA players not wanting to play. The world, as my dear departed mom would say, "has gone to hell in a handbasket."

I never knew what that meant and I still don’t, but it sounds good.

College Football

Louisville +11½ at Rutgers: The Cardinals are done at 0-4 SU and ATS in their 4. The Scarlet Knights are red-hot, covering their last 5 and averaging 42 points in the past 4. RUTGERS.

Navy -11 at Army: The Cadets 4-19 ATS against the service academies. Their tiny offense may not get enough points to cover. We will side with the trend. NAVY.

Pitt+2½ at UConn: Huge win in the Backyard Brawl for the Panthers. That momentum will carryover in looking to avenge last year’s 34-14 loss to the Huskies. PITTSBURGH.

USC -30 at UCLA: The Bruins played USC tough the last two years. If you have a ton of extra cash, I saw USC move from -3600 to -3880 on the money line. You could bet 32K to win $1K. At 1:15 pm Saturday, I’ll wager $55 on UCLA hoping for +33. UCLA.

Cincinnati -7½ at Hawaii: Bearcats let me down last week winning by 20 (I laid 21). This is Cincy’s 13th game and first with the beautiful beaches and all those Hawaiian chicks. At game time, they’ll be ready. CINCINNATI.

ECU +13½ at Tulsa: I will side with the Pirates in the dog role for this Conference USA title game. Tulsa struggled against Marshall last week. EAST CAROLINA.

BC pick at Va Tech (39½): BC beat Tech 28-23 in first meeting on the road with the total at 41½. So why the low total for this ACC title game? Well, I think this Virginia Tech offense is nil. If the Hokies’ defense doesn’t score points off a turnover, no good. BC / UNDER.

Bama +10 vs Florida (50½): The Gators have won and covered every game this year except for the Ole Miss game. The Crimson Tide have won and covered their 5, all going under the total. So you can go Gators / over, or Bama / under. We just happen to like the points. ALABAMA/UNDER.

Missouri +15½ vs Okla (78): If a few favorites win the early games the books will be rooting big time for the Tigers. If I ran the book and the line was -15½, I would post it 17 and take as much as humanly possible. OKLAHOMA / OVER.

Bengals +13½ at Colts: The Bengals just don’t score and have quit on the season. COLTS.

Browns +13½ at Titans: Browns stink and the double-digit covers are now turning around to the favorites. TITANS.

Vikings -9 at Lions: Detroit’s defense is more concerned about what club to party at that night and spend some of those millions. VIKINGS.

Eagles +7 at Giants: G-Men, even with the distractions, just keep rolling. Plus, they beat the Eagles 36-31 the first time around in Philadelphia. GIANTS.

Cowboys +3 at Steelers: Pitt offense and Big Ben both getting healthy. Steelers fans outright hate the Cowboys. Look for Pitt defense to rule. STEELERS.

FLASH: Steubenville Big Red was overmatched in the State final losing to No. 1 rated Alter 20-6 in what was a real brawl.
