Middle Tennessee at Louisiana-Lafayette –5
Lafayette had a great run in the middle of the season with four straight wins, albeit over mediocre opponents (Louisiana-Monroe, North Texas, Arkansas State and Florida International). They also had point-spread covers over Illinois and Kansas State when stepping up against BCS conferences. But November wasn’t sweet for the Ragin’ Cajuns, as they lost three straight to UTEP, FAU and Troy. In the process, their defense collapsed as they allowed an average of 41 points in those losses. The defense had been allowing only 31 points/game up to that point. Conversely, Middle Tennessee had a rough stretch in the middle of the season (lost four out of five), but picked it up to win three straight leading up to this contest. Given the current form, the Blue Raiders are the pick here to avenge last season’s 34-24 loss to the Cajuns. Middle Tennessee +5.
