MLB BRASS COMES TO BELLAGIO

There are no baseball games on the Bellagio sports book oddsboard this week, but there will be plenty of major league news at the Winter Meetings here that could affect futures betting.

Wiseguys will probably be hanging out at the bar to catch a glimse of some baseball celeb. Hot topics at the meetings include free agent pitchers Jake Peavy and CC Sabathia, the New York Mets upgrading their bullpen and rumored deals for outfielders Jeff Francoeur (Atlanta) and Ryan Ludwick (St. Louis).

LEROY’S HOOPS TAKING SIGNUPS

The Leroy’s College Basketball Challenge will be taking signups through Jan. 2. The contest will run for 10 weeks at the more than 60 Leroy’s locations in Nevada and pays the top 16 finishers. First prize will be $15,000 based on an entry base of 200 persons.

Each week players will fill out cards showing Saturday college games against the spread. The lines for the games will be released each Friday. There is also a separate contest for the most wins from Feb. 14-March 7 worth 5 percent of the total pool.
