Mandalay Bay kicks off its Bay Rock beach concert series with recording artists Blues Traveler on Friday, at 8:30 p.m.

Bay Rock shows are held at the Mandalay Beach Stage where concert-goers are invited to bring their blankets and sit on the beach or wade into the surf and listen to the music.

After more than nine years together, Blues Traveler reached commercial success in 1994 with the album Four. The single "Run-around" stayed in the top of the Billboard Top 10 charts throughout the summer of 1995 and earned the band a Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal. Lead vocalist John Popper’s deft harmonica playing proved to be the hook that set this band apart from the rest. The hit follow-up single "Hook" helped launch the Four album to the 12th largest selling record in 1995, certifying it platinum six times.

The Beach Stage is set in an 11-acre beach environment with a 1.6 million gallon wave pool.
