I desperately wanted to close the book on the O.J. fiasco, but the sentencing was much too juicy to overlook.
Did you ever hear a guy say, "Don’t confuse me with the facts?" Well, here are some facts for you. Six men walked into a hotel room and demanded sports memorabilia from two dealers in Nevada. Two of the six carried guns … likely to intimidate the shocked dealers. Four of the men, including the two gun carriers, turned state’s evidence (rat finks) and were sentenced to probation with no jail time.
The other two men were sentenced to 7½ and 9½ years minimum in jail. So, the bottom line is, if you rat out peers, you are rewarded in various ways, and the governmental agencies can get convictions and revel in successful prosecutions, regardless of the level of justice obtained. Allow four to go free so we can get the big fish. Justice has indeed been served, or so it says here. Just weigh the facts, Jack!
For those who did not read my previous article on this subject, I shall remind you that I think OJ is guilty of murder. I believe the court system allowed him to get away with it, but in this case the system is as guilty as he was nine years ago. Do two wrongs make a right? Perhaps! Mr. Simpson, a 62-year old first offender, received a minimum of 9½ years.
As a means of comparison, last Thursday Latrovia Reed was sentenced to three to 10 years in prison. She, if you recall, stabbed a woman to death in the reception area of Bally’s Hotel. Ms. Reed has several prostitution convictions, and recently was convicted of a robbery in Illinois.
Congratulations are in order to Eileen Di Rocco for downsizing the GamingToday paper. I estimate a savings of 100 trees will be saved by the new year. Go green Eileen. Right on!
There are five bowl games this week, and I’ll give you my total numbers for each. You should especially look at the Southern Miss game as I’ve already seen an 8-point difference from my numbers. Over.
EagleBank - 36.
NM Bowl - 66.
St Petersburg - 54.
LV Bowl - 60.
NO Bowl - 66.
Each week you’ll get the bowl numbers and hopefully you’ll do good with the ones you choose to make a play on.
As for the sides on this week’s bowl games, I like Memphis +12½, since they can score.
In the pros this week, there are not too many lines up yet, but I’ll take a stab.
Steelers at Titans: Big Ben somehow always finds a way to pull one out. STEELERS +1.
Dolphins at Chiefs: this looks like a coin flip, with the winner being only 3 points ahead. CHIEFS +4.
Cards at Pats: Pats need it, Cards don’t. Defense will chase Warner all over Foxborough. PATS -9.
Saints at Lions: Looks like a shootout, as neither team has a defense. They may go over at halftime. Over.
Have a great week!
