2 FOR TUESDAY Richard Saber...last wk: 1-1. ’08: 82-43 (65.6%)

CAPITALS at ISLANDERS (NHL)

Washington and Alexander Ovechkin are going great guns, having won three straight games. Nice timing to face the New York Islanders, losers of their last 6. CAPITALS.

THRASHERS at SENATORS (NHL)

Tough chore for Atlanta heading all the way up to Ottawa, especially off a three-game losing streak. The Senators are a disapointing 11-17-5, but have a winning record (8-7-2) at home. Trust me, even with the high price tag. SENATORS.

2 FOR TUESDAY Mark Mayer... last wk: 1-1. ’08: 73-55

KINGS at TRAILBLAZERS (NBA)

Reggie Theus was hanging by a thread as Sacramento coach until fired Monday. I always like to play a team the first game out with a new coach, figuring they will go all out to impress. KINGS.

KNICKS at LAKERS (NBA)

The Lakers have fallen into last year’s bad habits on defense, which means playing none. Fortunately LA has no problems scoring, which blends in nicely with New York’s kamikaze style. It’s not Golden State, but still a scorefest. OVER.
