TCU -3 vs Boise State (45½)
You don’t see totals for college games in the 40’s too often, especially involving high-powered teams. Still, the oddsmakers know what TCU and Boise State do best. The favored Horned Frogs are ranked No. 2 nationally in total defense and the 35 points they allowed to that Oklahoma juggernaut became increasingly impressive as the season wore on. TCU was a field goal miss away from defeating unbeaten Utah and owns wins of 34 and 25 points respective vs bowl teams BYU and Air Force during a 10-2 regular season.
Boise State doesn’t have the luxury of the blue turf, but its 12-0 mark was justified on any surface. While the Broncos offense scored at least 41 points in each of their last five games, it’s defensively that Boise stood out this season. Opponents scored 14 points or less nine times, including a 61-10 demolition of Fresno State. You have the Mountain West-WAC rivalry here with TCU a former member of the Western Athletic Conference. It’s a low total, but good defense usually stops good offense so we see each side scoring around 20. At least we hope so. UNDER.
