I have the answer to our economic crisis. Instead of the government bailing out bankrupt companies, let the New York Yankees do it.

And do you really think Wade Phillips is going to be back next year in Dallas? Maybe as a fan.

Time to go bowling for dollars.

TUESDAY

Maryland +1½ vs Nevada: The versatility of Nevada QB Colin Kaepernick and familiarity with Boise’s blue turf is the difference. NEVADA.

Oregon +3 vs Oklahoma St: This should be another in the long line of great Holiday Bowls. Slight edge in incentive to the Ducks. OREGON.

Rice -2½ vs W. Michigan: A very generous line for the host Owls playing in the Texas Bowl. The air show will be too much for Western. RICE.

WEDNESDAY

Air Force +3½ at Houston: A battle of wills between ball control Falcons and pass happy Cougars. We favor the pass. HOUSTON.

BC -3 at Vanderbilt (41): The game is in Nashville, which should give a huge boost to the underdog Commodores. Defenses should dominate. UNDER.

Ga Tech -4 vs LSU: The line definitely influenced by Tech’s upset victory over Georgia. However, there’s value with LSU and debut of freshman QB Jordan Jefferson. LSU.

Kansas -9 vs Minnesota: The Gophers will be hard-pressed to stop QB Todd Reesing and the Kansas passing attack. KANSAS.

Oregon St -2½ vs Pittsburgh: Star RB Jacquizz Rodgers missed the Oregon game and the Beavers lost shot at Rose Bowl. Jacquizz is out, but Pitt’s horse LeSean McCoy is in. PITTSBURGH.

NEW YEAR’S DAY

Georgia -7½ at Mich State: The Bulldogs will have something to prove after stunning loss to Georgia Tech. GEORGIA.

Iowa -3 at S. Carolina: The Gamecocks have a hideous record in bowl games. Remember, Iowa beat Penn State. IOWA.

Nebraska +2½ at Clemson: All I can say is Dabo Swinney. CLEMSON.

USC -9½ vs Penn St (45): Just can’t see this one being anything but a low-scoring, hard-hitting slobberknocker. UNDER.

Va Tech +2 vs Cincinnati: Can’t see Tech as an underdog, especially after Hawaii gave Bearcats a tough game. VA TECH.

FRIDAY

Alabama -10 vs Utah: The Utes are carrying the banner of the BCS wannabees. They play a similar game to Alabama and the line shows a lack of respect. UTAH.

E. Carolina -3 vs Kentucky: The Pirates have bounced back from a midseason skid. Kentucky has QB issues and limited offense. ECU.

Texas Tech -4½ vs Ole Miss: The underdog Rebels were the one that beat Florida, and in Gainesville. Tech will find SEC a different experience. OLE MISS.

SATURDAY

Connecticut -4½ vs Buffalo: The Bulls hung tough with Missouri and upset Ball State. They won’t be afraid of UConn, which can only run the ball. BUFFALO.

MONDAY

Texas -8½ vs Ohio State: Talk about a chip on their shoulder! Look for Texas and Colt McCoy to make a statement for missing the BCS title game and the Heisman. TEXAS.

TUESDAY

Ball St -2½ vs Tulsa (Tue): Both teams were upset losers in their respective conference title games. Tough to back a team that allowed 70 to Houston. BALL ST.

NFL

Welcome to the playoffs, where all four road teams are favored.

SATURDAY

Falcons -2½ at Cardinals: I have a 40-1 futures ticket that says Arizona will not end its season here. Atlanta has a huge edge in the rushing attack, but I think future Hall of Famer Kurt Warner has one more good game left this season.CARDINALS.

Colts -1½ at Chargers (51): I see another shootout with Philip Rivers and Peyton Manning having big games. Best matchup on the card. OVER.

SUNDAY

Ravens -3 at Dolphins (36½): I see defense dominating in a clash of two overachieving teams. Most think Baltimore has the edge. I’m not so certain. These Fish will show up in front of a playoff-starved home crowd. UNDER.

Eagles -3 at Vikings (42): It’s all about the home field. Minnesota is very tough to beat in the Dome. The euphoria of routing Dallas could work against Philly, which was a no show at Washington. VIKINGS.
