Las Vegas tourism officials are predicting Memorial Day will attract more than the 270,000 visitors who flocked here last year.
The Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority predicts crowds of about 274,000, and a hotel occupancy rate of 96 percent.
A large portion of the weekend crowd drives in from California. Gas prices approaching $2 a gallon had fueled fears tourists may stay away.
But officials said the lure of holiday travel will outweigh the increased gas prices.
