Members of the To’hajiilee community plan to go back to the Navajo Nation government in New Mexico to ask for permission to start casino gaming on their lands it was reported Saturday.

The To’hajiilee community, located west of Albuquerque, will press for federal recognition as a separate tribe, according to a member the tribe’s economic development and gaming commission.

The Navajo Nation’s president had vetoed legislation that would amended the tribe’s laws that would allow gaming at To’hajiilee. Recently, the tribal council failed to override the veto in two attempts.
