T’wolves +7½ at Suns (214½)
Here is one of these tough NBA scheduling situations, this time putting Phoenix in a tough spot. The Suns lost in overtime at Denver last night and now must come back to face a team it figures on paper to beat. Phoenix received a great performance by 36-year-old Grant Hill, who had 25 points against the Nuggets.
Back to back nights could take its toll on an aging Suns team that sports Hill and former league MVPs Steve Nash and Shaquille O’Neal. Shaq, who has been playing his best ball in several years, was given a night off against Denver. He should be in the lineup tonight.
Minnesota just had a five-game winning streak snapped with a three-point home loss to Miami. Still, Kevin McHale has the Timberwolves playing inspired ball since taking over as head coach a month ago. Randy Foye has been averaging close to 20 points during the run and rookie center Kevin Love (UCLA) has been a force of late.
Minnesota has been able to stay within the 7½-point margin in each of its last five road games, which included San Antonio and Dallas. The line seems large here. T’WOLVES.
