Santa Fe Station and Texas Station are giving away their money to horse bettors.

Last Friday, the two casinos started handing out $25,000 over the next five weeks in the "Great Racebook Giveaway."

Drawings for $2,500 will be for the next four consecutive Fridays at 10 a.m. at each race book. (The first of the five drawings was last Friday). That’s $12,500 at each book over five weeks.

"This is a way to reward our current players," said Micah Roberts, Santa Fe race and sports book director. "We’re going to pay if you play. This is based on a lot of promotions with slot machines."

Here’s how you can get in the money.

Players earn drawing tickets based on race book race bets. The bets can be at any race at any track offered by the two casinos, including thoroughbred, harness and dog track races. Twin Q wagers also will qualify.

Players receive one drawing ticket for each transaction of $10-$19, two for $20-$29, three for $30-$39 and so forth up to nine for $90-$99. Ten tickets are worth bets of $100 or higher. Players also receive two drawing tickets for every winning ticket cashed.

On Fridays, 32 winners will be selected at each drawing and the first ticket will be for $1,000; second gets $250; the next five receive $100; the following five win $50; and the next 20 will be $25 each.

Winning ticket numbers will be posted in each book and players have until 9 p.m. on Fridays to claim their winnings.

As of last week, the contest was off to a great start.

"The drum (at Santa Fe) was full already," Roberts said. "We’ve seen our regular guests feel they are appreciated."

Drawing tickets will be issued at the time of transaction and unclaimed prizes will be forfeited. Prizes need to be claimed at the property where the drawing is held.
