SANTA ANITA

HOGS HOLLOW: Ran a deceivingly good race. He was down on the rail when making a big move splitting horses into the stretch. Got bumped and had to be steadied hard losing several positions, but came back and almost got the show dough. This guy is improving and could pop at a big price. $$$

VALIANT EFFORT: Was down on the inside chasing the pace in this 6½ downhill race and the rail is not the place to be. This guy gutted it out till the end losing by less than a length. If he gains an outside post next time out you can send it in.

PATCH OF BLUE: Hadn’t been seen since September 2007, but was a real good horse back then and looked super on the track today. He came from dead last at the top of the lane and stormed down the stretch to lose by less than two lengths. Prep for longer distances. This guy can run and will be a force in the future.

SUZUQUTIE: This girl is in top form, but has been very unlucky. She ran another good race today losing by less than a length. She is in top form and ready for a trip to the winner’s circle.

HE’S REALLY BIG: Was dismissed in the betting going off at almost 28-1. He was caught down on the inside, had to be checked and dropped back. He rallied, but had to wait for room again nearing the stretch. He somehow got up and paid $57.40. This guy could come back and pay boxcars again. Don’t dismiss.

NATURAL TOUCH: Was very unlucky to lose his last start as he was stuck down on the inside. He had to shift out for room and was caught four wide. Came on strong and was one of four heads on the wire.

GOLDEN GATE FIELDS

OUR EMILY: Went off at a monster price despite a good third place finish in her last start so she was worth a little lay down at 55-1. She trailed, but was making a big rally when blocked behind a wall of horses. Once clear came on for third.

EAST FROM WEST: Came from last to first all on his own and won going away. This guy can move up and score again.

RENDEZVOUS: Was exiting our HTW list and scored smartly despite trouble. He has found a home here and could get the hat trick.

ROBS HERO: Trainer Lloyd Mason has changed the style on this guy and he has responded with back-to-back wins. Could score a hat trick.

FLOATING ON AIR: In from the Fair Grounds she won with a very confident ride and has the looks of a girl who will repeat on the move up.

SCOTTISH DIAMOND: Looked good in this spot shipping in from Santa Anita, but had to settle for the show dough. If he stays up North he will win next time out.

TIJUANA TUESDAY: First-time starter out of the Steve Sherman barn really put it to this bunch of 8K maiden claimers winning by eight lengths. No claims so it seems the trainer got away with one here.

CAMISADO: Was perfectly placed, but blocked when looking to make what would have been a winning move. Once clear he came on strong and just did miss.

IRISH HARMONY: Was bet down from 12-1 on the morning line to 4-1. He ran a big race, but could not chase down the winner though finishing seven lengths clear of the next horse.
