5 p.m. at Memphis
Clippers +5 at Grizzlies (201)
Sometimes you have to reach down the bottom of barrel to come up with a winning ticket. We may have one with Memphis, who after an incredible 12-game losing streak both straight up and against the spread has won two in a row by margins of 16 and 11 points. For the 13-35 Grizzlies, that’s a hot streak. The victory over Washington was not that big a deal, but the second came against playoff contender Houston.
Memphis has been somewhat better on its own floor (10-17) than on the road (3-18), which is good news considering the visitors are the Los Angeles Clippers. The Clips are threatening to surpass Memphis for that 12-game run of ineptness. LA, not to be mistaken for the Lakers, has dropped seven in a row including four straight on the current road trip. And the Clips have lost with style – by 15, 25, 20, 17, 12, 24 and most recently 29 points.
So with 5, even if it’s Memphis, there’s only one way to look. GRIZZLIES.
