Pop star wows audience at new theater
Pop superstar Billy Joel highlighted the grand opening of The Show at Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa in Rancho Mirage, California on Valentine’s Day last week.
Before the show, Joel signed a piano that will be donated to a local school district music program.
He began his performance in the 2,000-seat venue by playfully introducing himself as "Billy Joel’s dad," but proved he still has what it takes by kicking the night off with his energetic classic "My Life."
Afterwards, he congratulated Agua Caliente on the venue launch, wishing them great success. In true Joel fashion, he went on to entertain the sold-out crowd with his classic tunes, witty humor, and impressive (yet lesser-known) guitar skills. The fans were so eager for more, that Joel performed three separate encores.
Agua Caliente’s new venue is a very intimate concert theatre, which showcases a concert lineup and entertainment experience that rivals the best venues in the country.
The theater provides for up-close and personal encounters with performers like Billy Joel, Matchbox Twenty, Tony Bennett, Jay Leno and many more.
Also on tap are live boxing and mixed martial arts, plus, a one-of-a-kind concert by Melissa Etheridge on April 2, in her only Southern California appearance.
